Redouble Your Efforts To Reposition Education Sector, Oyo Education Commissioner Tells PS/ IGEs/LIEs

Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, on Friday, charged the Permanent Secretaries, Inspectors of Education/Local Inspectors of Education in the state to redouble their efforts in the quest to reposition the State’s Education sector.

The Commissioner gave the charge while addressing the Permanent Secretaries, Inspectors of Education/Local Inspectors of Education at their statutory monthly meeting held at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Secretariat, Ibadan.

He admonished them to key into the vision and mission of Governor Makinde in the education sector.

He called on them to complement the government’s huge spending in the sector through adequate monitoring and ensure that teachers are alive to their duties and responsibilities .

The Commissioner asked them to find ways of curbing examination malpractices within their jurisdiction and join hands with the ministry to fish out illegal schools .

He, therefore, enjoined them not to engage in any unethical issues such as collection of illegal fees, examination malpractices, lateness, and other vices.

He said: Let me start by commending each and every one of you, I want you to key into the vision and mission of the government of today.

“There is a road map on Education and the road map on sustainable development. We have to read that document very well. It is a known fact that the governor Makinde led administration is based on four pillars, such as Economy, Health, Education, and security.

“Our own concern is on Education, we have to key into the vision and mission of the government .

“Education is a global phenomenon that is not peculiar to Oyo state alone, and it is about humanity, so , within the little resources available, we just do our best and if Education is doing well in Oyo state, you are all the drivers. There are no other people driving the development of education in Oyo state apart from the people, I’m meeting today.

“From Primary, secondary, up to Tertiary Education, everything depends on foundations and our days, all of us know that native education is no longer there by the western mentality we brought to Nigeria.
“At the ministry level, we need to do more.
However, you have to be focused and make sure the vision and mission of the present government is realized.
