.. applauds Makinde for the appointment

The ’83 Set of Kisi Community Grammar School on Wednesday, showered encomium on the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdul Waheed, saying that he is a good ambassador of Irepo local government.

Speaking during the visit to the office of the commissioner, Agodi , Secretariat, Ibadan, the leader of the representative of ’83 Set of Kisi Community Grammar School, Dr. Dele Oyeku described the appointment of the commissioner as the right peg in the right hole.

Dr. Dele Oyeku, explained that the commissioner’s wealth of experiences would be utilized for the attainment of unprecedented feats in the Ministry.

He also appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for the believing spirit he has in the new commissioner, assuring him that Prof.Salihu
being a performer, a trailblazer, and an achiever of note, would not disappoint him.

He admonished the commissioner to organize an education submit that will be used to address the challenges in the education sector of the state.

He prayed to God to guard and guide the new commissioner to achieve unprecedented successes in his new assignment.

According to Dr.Dele Oyeku; there is no doubt that we are very pleased to be here today to celebrate you as one of our classmates of the ’83 Set at Kisi Community Grammar School.

‘ We have watched with keen interest your political trajectory, and we are not too surprised that you are holding this position today.

“First and foremost, we want to seize this golden opportunity to commend and thank our indefatigable, cheerful and amiable Governor, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for finding you worthy of this appointment.

“We are aware that nothing of this magnitude comes just like that without recommendation or introduction by a mentor.

We can tell you for free that we know your political mentor to be our Daddy, our Uncle His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Barrister Bayo Lawal.

“Today, God has given you the right platform to operate and to actualize your vision, which is in tandem with the vision of our dear State and the vision of His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde.

“As a Professor who is deeply involved in research and teaching, there is no doubt that you are fully aware of the prospects and challenges of education in our dear State.

” We have the full assurance of your capability to add value to the educational system, this is in line with the vision of His Excellency.

“The Hon Commissioner Sir, organizing an Education Summit in Oyo State could be a good idea to harness the prospects and to address the challenges of education in our dear State.

“We would like to advise that you involve the Ministry properly in the activities of the National Council of Science, Technology and Innovation.

“Prof, coming from the academic community, we know that you are not new to this terrain.

“ So, we strongly believe that you will be able to assist the Governor to deliver on his promise to make tertiary and secondary education in Oyo Sate the envy of other States in Nigeria.

“At this point, Prof we would like to come back home by making a specific request for our alma mater. The request is simple-please do not forget your alma mater- Kisi Community Grammar School. We are trusting God that the glory of the school will return to those glorious days when students came from all over Okeogun and Oyo town for secondary education at Kisi Community Grammar School because of the school’s academic excellence and some infrastructure
that we enjoyed at the school in those days.

“Today, our alma mater is no longer the same school that was attracting students from all over. We, therefore, seek your intervention if it is something that falls within the purview Oyo of your office.

“Hon Commissioner Sir, it is a known fact to you that one of our classmates is now the Principal of our alma mater. This gives us an advantage because he will be able to work closely with you in line with our request.
On the last note, we want to assure you of our full support in this important assignment given to you by His Excellency. Also, we want you to be rest assured that we are very proud of you, and we are happy for you as your classmates.

” More importantly, be rest assured that the Iba Moshood Lawal Arowoduye II and his entire kingdom is proud of you.

In his response, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed, appreciated the representative of the ’83 Set of Kisi Community Grammar School for taking time out of their tight schedules to pay him a congratulatory visit, saying he would not take it for granted.

The commissioner, sought their cooperation and support, promising to be a good ambassador of Kishi.

He reiterated his commitment to do his best in uplifting the Education sector in Oyo state.

He said: I really appreciate you for the visit.
I thank you for taking time out of your tight schedules to deem it fit to pay me a congratulatory visit.
I am promising to be a good ambassador of Kishi and not to betray the trust reposed on him, by His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
I will try to put my best to uplift the Education sector in Oyo state to greater height.
