Delta speaker tasks media practitioners on professional integrity
The Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Mr Dennis Guwor has charged media practitioners to continue to uphold professional integrity in the discharge of their duties as watchdogs of the society.
The Speaker gave the made the call during separate courtesy visits by two media groups; the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State chapter and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Wednesday in Asaba.
Gowor while assuring the media of partnership in driving the needed growth and developments in the State, urged it to key into the state government’s vision by ensuring robust and credible reportage.
He advised the media practitioners to be objective in their reportage by ensuring balanced report and thorough investigation before going to the press.
The speaker who described the 8th Assembly as media-friendly, assured them that his leadership in the State Assembly would not in any way sidelined the media.
Guwor expressed the hope that with the crop of lawmakers that make up the 8th assembly, the people of the state would get people-oriented legislation.
In their separate remarks during the visits, the leaders of the delegations told the speaker that they were in his office to congratulate him on his emergence as Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
The spokespersons, Mrs Phil Obanor, General Manager, NTA, Asaba and Comrade Jude Obiemenyego, Chairman, ACNPN Delta Council pledged their organisations commitment towards robust synergy and partnership with the state assembly.NAN
