OYRTMA Boss, Fagbemi Reveals Agency’s Plans To Transit To Sustainable Traffic Management

… Says Development In Line With Makinde’s Mantra For Sustainable Development

The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has revealed plans to transition to ‘sustainable traffic management’ inline with the mantra of Governor Seyi Makinde’s led Oyo State Government under Omituntun 2.0 which is expected to kick-start by 29th May, 2023.

Making this revelation earlier today while on a live radio program at 32fm in Ibadan, the Executive Chairman, OYRTMA, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi Ph.D said; “The Authority had judiciously deployed all resources at her disposal to ensure the attainment of the lofty goals embedded in the accelerated development plans of the State Government under Omituntun 1.0 (2019-2023).

We did our bit towards ensuring improved economy, enhanced security, accessible education and healthcare all through effective human and vehicular movement across the thirty-three local governments of the State. We achieved these through various multifaceted policies and programs ranging from Community Traffic Management System (CTMS), Operation-one-passenger-policy, Operation-Zero-Hold-Up, Operation-Stop & Test, Fast-Track Emergency Rescue Operations, Continuous, Robust and strategic media advocacy campaigns etc”, Fagbemi said.

Speaking further, the OYRTMA helmsman added: “As we now look forward to the commencement of Omituntun 2.0, I wish to state that OYRTMA will capitalize on the gains and achievements recorded under Omituntun 1.0 as we are now ready to transition to sustainable traffic management in-line with the mantra of the people-loving Governor, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.

We therefore call on the general and motoring public to join hands with us as we strive to sustainably sanitize our roads, ensure free flow of traffic, reduce road traffic crashes and consequently minimize travel time across the State.

However, the direct implication of this is that the Authority shall melt the full wrath of the law on road traffic rule defaulters and adamant individuals. In same vein, we shall go after those involved with indiscriminate trading on road corridors in line with extant traffic laws of the State no matter whose ox is gored.”, Dr. Fagbemi said.

Responding to public comments during the phone-in radio program, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi said “the Authority appreciates the cooperation and support of the good people of Oyo State under omituntun 1.0 and looks forward to a more robust relationship with the public as we gravitate towards the commencement of Omituntun 2.0. Those seeking recruitment into the various cadres of the Authority should be patient to receive our feedback as those shortlisted will be contacted in no distant-time”, he concluded.
