Ibadan Queen’s School Alumni Renovates School’s Sick Bay

…as Oyo Health Commissioner Commissions Project Of About 7.6 Million Naira

The Alumni of Queen’s School, Ibadan, ( 1985 – 1991 set ) on Friday , handed over the remoulded school’s sick bay to the management of the school for safety of girl child .
The project which cost about 7.6 million naira, renovated
by the set, has six hospital beds , three toilets , pharmacy, staff desk , wash hand basins among
others.
Oyo state Commissioner for Health , Dr Bode Ladipo, while speaking shortly after official commissioning of the project , held at the school premises, lauded the body for developing the mind of giving back to the school .
Ladipo noted that the sick bay will play an integral part in promoting community health care services.
He emphasized the need to raise the younger ones in various schools as expected ,saying that this would enable them compete favourably among their peers .
He promised the association of government support in the area of medical experts for smooth running of the sick bay .
In her remarks , the President of the set , Old Girls of Queen’s School , Ibadan , Mrs. Adeniun Falade Taiwo, said the realization of the project was a product of well coordinated journey of six years by members of the association.
Falade added that the association realized the need for individuals to have a sound mind for excellent output, especially in schools.
She explained that members of the association have common desire to give back to their Alma mater,noting that the sick bay was renovated to ensure the students have access to basic health care when the need arises.
” This project spanned 21 months and cost us about 7.6 million naira, sourced from membership levies and soliciting funds from friends,families and professional colleagues “
” Our plan was to do more but we were constrained by the realities of the harsh economic situation of the country, I am confident that we shall do more in the years ahead “.

” in January 2016, we renovated one of the abandoned toilet facilities in the school. This translated to giving back 12 modern toilets, 8 wash hand basins and one 200 litres water tank .

She encouraged the students of the school to sustain lagacies left behind by Old Girls for the benefit of generations unborn .
The Chairperson, project Committee, Tope Farinre Olatunbosun,assured that maintenance of the facility will be given utmost priority by the association .
