Oyo govt tasks stakeholders in health sector to support awareness on burden of oral health disease

Oyo state government have admonished stakeholders in the health sector to support the creation of awareness towards reducing the spread and burden of oral health disease.

Commissioner for health, Dr. Bode Ladipo gave the admonition in commemoration of the world oral health day which was celebrated with pupils of primary school across the pace setter state.

Dr. Ladipo who was represented by the permanent secretary, ministry of health, Dr. Soji Adeyanju, attributed reason behind the celebration of the day with the pupils to the poor awareness of oral health which according to him can have a detrimental effect on the lives, education performance and later success of the children.

He further noted that cavities are preventable, stressed that it ensure students have the preventable oral health services which will help the children stay healthy.

In her address, the Chairman of the Nigeria Dental Association, Dr. Fechi Nkwocha urged all stakeholders to join forces together in order to produce a healthy and productive population.
