Aishatu Binani Is Nigeria’s 1st Female Governor-elect, Wins Adamawa Guber Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Aisha Binani of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as winner of the Adamawa state governorship election.

Binani becomes the first woman in Nigeria’s history to be elected as a governor.

In the Adamawa State Gubernatorial Election for the 21 LGAs , Senator Aisha Binani wins with 409,909 against her rival Fintiri, a sitting governor, who polled 406,617.

Her election was historic as it came on March 19, a day set aside to celebrate Mother’s Day.
