Oyo guber: Exercise your franchise for Makinde for sustainable dividends- Ayorinde
A former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Oyo State in 2019, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, has advised electorate in the state, to support continuity by voting for Governor Seyi Makinde on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
He gave the charge, while reacting to the alignment of the Social Democratic party gubernatorial candidate to governor Seyi makinde re-election bid.
According to him, 2023 is an evidence that the democratic experience is now getting to the heart of the people.
He said: On like in the past, where a few leaders will sit down in a room and point their finger at a direction and the people will slavishly go to that direction, we do not have that anymore and that is what is happening a place like Oyo state.”
“The governor is making a peak for a second term in office strictly base on his performance and you can see the reaction of the people that they are very much with him.”
They are not saying that he is perfect but they are saying that he has impacted on their lives in the last four years, they are saying that if you have a governor that ensures that salaries are paid by the 25th of every month after all the Bible tell us “A Labourers deserve his wages” and when workers are paid, market women are happy because there is more money to take to the market, nobody is buying on credit, Landlords are happy, children are happy, so there is complete Ecosystem around making money available for the masses.
Secondly, The man has taken care, the governor has taken care of the perennial problem of touting by establishing this pact all over the state.
There is a swirl of support for the governor re-election bid, am not surprise that my friend and respected lawyer Michael Lana, has thrown his hat in the ring behind the governor and he has dropped his governorship ambition under our great party the SDP and he has gone align and support governor Seyi makinde, am not surprise at all.
Michael Lana is a progressive, the governor is a progressive and if he look at the logistics and that rather than tear away vote here and there, it is better to put the same foot forward, I think he has done excellent thing.
I hope the governor succeed and if he which hope he will from the way things are it appears just one way thing in Oyo state today, he will have the chance to double his efforts in his secy term, Omi-tun-tun 2.0 and by the he is done with that the bar of governance, the standard of governance in Oyo state would have become very high and a tough act to follow.
I wish him the best in the next few days when election when elections are held.
I will advise the electorate, the people of Oyo state to go out enmasse on Saturday and exercise their franchise, it is their civic responsibility and it is the only power they have to determine their own future and their own destiny.
My advice is go out early in your polling unit, sat your vote and ensure that your vote are properly recorded and stay to ensure that the vote cast are properly counted and transmitted, so that you are sure that what has happened in your polling unit reflect the wishes of the people that voted there.
We are hoping that INEC will improve on their outing at the presidential election.
This are local elections, the governorship, it is closer to the people, people are more passionate about it.
INEC need to be on the very top of their game, they should ensure that the elections are free, fair, transparent and credible.
They owe that duty to Nigerians because billions in hundreds of tax payers money has been invested in this election.
INEC cannot afford to fail, the security agencies must be on alert they cannot afford to drop the ball at this crucial and critical moment in the history of our country.
