APATA FIRE OUTBREAK: OYRTMA Advices Motorists to Ply Alternative Routes in The Interim

Sequel to a ravaging fire outbreak caused by a crashed PMS-laden tanker at Apata, Ibadan Southwest LGA of Oyo State, the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has given traffic advisory to the motoring public to use alternative routes in the interim pending when safety and normalcy is returned.

This was contained in an emergency bulletin released by the Executive Chairman of the Authority, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi Ph.D when the event occurred around 1800hours of today 15th December, 2022.

According to the bulleting, Dr. Fagbemi advised: “Motorists moving inward Apata from Ring road/Aleshinloye/Dugbe could navigate via BCJ junction to link the Abeokuta Expressway at Ahmaddiya Mosque Junction, Apata. Another alternative is for those coming from the aforementioned routes to ply the Akala Expressway to link Bembo Area, Apata”, he said.

He added that men and officers of the Authority has been deployed immediately to the accident scene to maintain law and order while distress calls has been made to the fire fighting authorities.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filling this report, the intensity of the inferno has been largely subdued and normalcy gradually being restored. No human casualty has been recorded but goods worth several millions of naira destroyed.

Commuters along the route are advised to stay vigilant, drive slowly and obey all law enforcement officials managing the unfortunate situation.
