2023: ‘Oyo ti SeyiBayo’ Even If You Turn Yourselves To Bandits, No Vacancy In Agodi Govt House–Oyo PDP Tells APC
The Oyo state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taking swipe at the opposition, the All Progressives Congress (APC) over a viral video where the respected deputy governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdulroheem Adebayo Lawal was booed at by some unruly APC members.
The ruling PDP declared that regardless of the desperation orchestrated by Teslim Folarin and his APC apologists, the people of Oyo state have clearly and repeatedly shown that they have already ‘SeyiBayo’ insisting that there is no vacancy at the Agodi Government House come till 2027.
The action by members of the APC in the state, in the presence of their leaders and the party’s governorship candidate ahead of 2023 elections, Senator Teslim Folarin, and others has also been condemned in its strongest term by the ruling PDP describing the public conduct of the APC apologists as rather shameful, disgusting and regrettable.
Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde’s deputy, Barrister Lawal was at the venue of the 10th year remembrance of former governor of the state, between 1999 and 2003, Alhaji Lam Adesina, who was born on January 20, 1939 and breathed his last on November 11, 2012.
The event took place inside Hall of Grace, Jogor Event Centre, Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The programme was graced by a former governor of Ogun State from 1999 to 2003, Chief Olusegun Osoba; former deputy governor of Lagos State, Chief Abiodun Ogunleye; two former deputy governors in Oyo State, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, who served with Lam Adesina, and Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, who also served during the eight years administration of former governor, late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, among other dignitaries.
A press statement by the ruling party’s State Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji, on Monday morning (today) said the action by the APC members was allegedly scripted by the party’s standard flag bearer for the 2023 governorship election and was consequently acted out with his full backing.
According to the PDP statement, it was unfathomable that Senator Folarin would slide so low to mastermind such archaic and old fashioned style of gutter politics to have exhibited such political rascality and shameful public display of indecorous attitude and looked away in silence while his supporters engaged in what the PDP called a show of shame.
The conduct of Folarin’s APC supporters according to the ruling PDP is “best likened to sheer display of public nuisance particularly peculiar to street urchins who are at the beck and call of political masters. It is sad what politics can turn an ill informed people to but we hope both the APC and its leaders will seriously caution their members and supporters against a repeat of such ugly and shameful act.
“To state the fact as it is, APC in Oyo state and its governorship candidate have one thing in common, and that is notoriety. The only time they display any atom of regard for the same office they seek was when they occupied it. One wonders if any other political party in the state engaged in such political rascality and brigandage, what would become of our political landscape.
“The deputy governor was the Attorney General of Oyo state during the administration of former Governor, late Alhaji Lam Adesina. Either he was invited as the incumbent deputy governor to the event or not, it was only normal for him to attend such memorial ceremony in honour of his late principal considering the long standing cordial relationship between them.
“We know Oyo APC has exhausted its propagandist arsenal and have resorted to creating needless provocative actions deliberately geared towards truncating the peace an tranquility in the state in order to have an item for their political campaigns against the PDP led administration of Governor Seyi Makinde but we will continue to put them where they belong because we will not allow them reduce us to their gutter level of politicking.” Oyo PDP said.
