Governor Seyi Makinde Highlights Third Year Scorecard, Guarantees Residents of Good Administration

From Ogundele Olanrewaju

The Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has on Sunday, 31st July, 2022, stated that he will persist in delivering good administration in Oyo State, while adding that there are projects yet to be revealed.

Governor Makinde made this known in a newsletter released via his social media timelines where he highlighted his third year score card in areas of education, agriculture, health and infrastructure building.

“These days, all everyone seems to be eager and talk about is the 2023 general elections. While this is certainly a very significant conversation to have, here in Oyo State, we are aware that we are still owing our people ten months of good governance.

“Just recently, we welcomed a new Deputy Governor in Oyo State. Together, we will complete our first term, and by the grace of God, we will be seeking your votes for the second term.

“In the meantime, one of the core areas His Excellency, Barr. Bayo Lawal will be working on is the maintenance and rehabilitation of feeder roads in the state. We recently received $3.5 million for this through the World Bank-assisted Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

“Within a few weeks, a good number of feeder roads within the state will get the needed attention. Let me take this opportunity to thank you all for your support of our approach to infrastructural development in Oyo State.

“We chose to first concentrate on creating a network of roads that link the five zones of our dear state before moving on to work on the inner city or feeder roads. Please, continue to support us as we deliver on our mandate.

“Another area of governance that we will be giving our full attention to in the coming months is the solid waste management sector. As I mentioned in an earlier newsletter, we have created a new solid waste management architecture working with new consultants. But I must say that this structure will not work without your support.

“You can give us your support in two ways:

“Register for door-to-door/commercial waste evacuation with the new solid waste managers.

Stop the illegal dumping of waste on the medians and street corners.

“Additionally, we are aware that there are some Private Sector Participants (PSPs) who have been disengaged by the state and are still going around evacuating waste from some residential and commercial areas. Let me use this medium to warn them to desist from further encroaching on the activities of the new solid waste managers. I have directed that action be taken against any PSPs and anyone who continues to do business with them within Oyo State. The only recognised solid waste managers in Oyo State are Mottainai Recycling Ltd.

“As I said earlier, our plan is to ensure that Oyo State maintains its pacesetter status among the states in Nigeria. We will not relent until we reach the finish line. For us here in Oyo State, good governance never stops”, he stated.
