OYSIEC Chairman, becomes Pioneer Yoruba Lawyers Forum chair

The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Barr. Isiaka Olagunju has become the pioneer chairman of Egbe Amofin Oodua Yoruba Lawyers Forum.
Olagunju, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) was elected unopposed by the body in it’s election held at the premises of Oyo State Magistrate court, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The forum was established to depens bound of friendship and unity among Yoruba lawyers particularly practitioners.
The OYSIEC boss in his acceptance speech thanked members for puting their trust in him, promising all round development for his members and their profession.
He noted that Yoruba has been at the fore front of law profession from time immemorial, saying that lack of unity has hindered the progress of the association.
He however urged members to participate actively in politics towards the national development in their respective domains.
Former Ibadan branch chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ibrahim Lawal in his remark said the body should drive Southwest governors to begin to do things that would impact people’s lives particularly on justice reform.
“We expect the new executives to take the association to the next level, Yoruba lawyers should be able to speak with one voice, and ensure that the development of our region is paramount to their hearts, we should be in the vanguard of rule of law because without it, there can not be justice and peace”.
Meanwhile, the outgoing caretaker chairman of the association, Oluwole Akintayo noted that the association was divided before but now united, adding that registration of the association by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has reached advance stage.
Other elected officers include Ademola Ikujuni, Assistant Secetrary, Rotimi Oyagbola, Financial Secetrary, Rotimi Olorunfemi, Treasurer, Olayinka Sokoya, Publicity Secetrary, Paul Akomolafe, Welfare Secetrary, Adetunji Oso, Secetrary, Toyin Bashorun, Vice Chairman and Moshood Abiola as the auditor.
