About 22 media practitioners from different media houses will battle for honours in the second edition of Solat Telecoms Media Table Tennis Tournament which will start in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on the 19th and end on 25th of May.
This was revealed during a press conference held at the hall of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Iyaganku Ibadan over the weekend where the sponsor, Alhaji Ganiyu Hammed, the CEO of Solat Telecoms and organizer, Sola Ayegbajeje Media Concept unveiled big plans to the participating journalists.
Hammed whose firm is also regularly investing into the promotion of grassroots football in Oyo, in the past expressed his delight to associate with the sporting press, saying the decision to bankroll a sporting event for media practitioners is in line with the corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy of his firm.
“It is always my joy to associate with media practitioners, especially the sporting press and I strongly believe this second edition will be better than the first one we had April 2021. I will also like to state here that this idea is not politically motivated, it is primarily to have an impact in the society”, said the Solat boss.
Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman of the committee organizing the event, a seasoned sports journalist, Sola Ayegbajeje said “the event is conceptualized to further strengthen cordial relationship among the media practitioners in Oyo State and to create a friendly and competitive atmosphere where the ever busy media men and women will come together to interact and network”.
