Journalists Considering Boycott Of Political Coverage In Oyo State

Reporters largely under aegis of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State council are reported to be considering to start boycotting political activities in the State.
The correspondents are mulling the development over the growing mindless attacks on some men of the press at a venue of People’s Democratic Party congress on Saturday.
It was gathered that the body became worried over the harassment and damage of the operational vehicle of Mitv and Star FM Ibadan at Jogor Centre, the venue a faction of the party.
Two prominent members of the NUJ disclosed this on Sunday while co – anchoring a public affairs radio programme on a popular radio in Ibadan.
The beleaguered journalists expressed their disappointment over the attack on their colleagues at the state congress of a faction of the ruling party by yet to be identified political thugs.
It was reported by this news blog yesterday how suspected hoodlums early in the morning stormed and destroyed several vehicles at the parking lot of the same event facility.
The afternoon’s attack on many more vehicles parked along Obafemi Awolowo Stadium to State High Court complex by the unknown hoodlums involved the damage of Mitv and many other journalists at the venue
