NUJ national president bags another tenure in office………returns unopposed

National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Chris Isiguzo has been returned unopposed for a fresh tenure in office.
This follows the late withdrawal of his opponent in the race, Yusuf Idris for the position of National President of NUJ.
The event which took place at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Abia state during the 7th Triennial National delegate conference to elect another set of leadership that will pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
National Daily news correspondent, Ogundele Olanrewaju, who is among the delegate at the conference, report that earlier there is an industrial court injuction sitting in Ibadan that vacated the ex-parte order obtained by some members of the union in Ogun state to stop the process.
Speaking on the role of media in times of national renewal, the guest speaker at the conference, Mr. Emma Agu, noted that the role of media cannot be over emphasize and there is need for journalist to be independent in their reportage.
In his report on the state of Journalist freedom, the re-elect president of Nigeria Union of Journalist, Comrade Chris Isiguzo, said that it is the responsibility of the media to raise alarm when government responsibilities are being deliberately subverted.
He further advised Nigeria government to ensure there is Journalist freedom inorder to perform their duties effectively.
Other Executive members elected on opposed are, deputy national president Hassan Yahaya, National Treasurer Dele Atunbi, National Auditor Ladi Emmanuel and Samuel Dada National financial Secretary.
