Oyo Government Hosts Citizens in Ibadan in Commemoration of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Day Celebration

The Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Friday, filled to the brim as the Oyo state government, hosted citizens of the state in the brown roof city, and together celebrate the 61st National Independence Day Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

National Daily news correspondent, who was present at the venue of the event, reports that the Independence Day celebration kick-started with amazing parades by students, voluntary youth organizations, Unions, Nigerian police band, and Amotekun corps.

In his 61st National Independence Day Celebration’s speech, Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, encouraged Nigerians to be proud of the giant of Africa.

Governor Makinde, who was represented at the epoch-making event by the Secretary to the state government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, stated that necessary machinery is in motion to make Oyo state great again.

The governor, while speaking further on the Theme of this year’s Independence Day Celebration: Impact of Insecurity on Economic Development of the Nation, pledged his unflinching support to both conventional and unconventional security agencies operating in the state; in a bid to achieving more secured Oyo state.

Present at the 61st National Independence Day Anniversary were top government officials, Religious leaders, Traditional rulers, members of the public, and other ethnic groups which include the Hausa, Fulani, Igbo communities and Inter-party Advisory Council among others.

The highlight of the event is the distribution of prizes for match past, essay writing competitions, and debate.
