Insecurity: ‘Give Orders That Will Help Overcome Challenges, Nigerian Army Charges Non Commission Officers

Non-Commission officers comprises of Sergeant,Staff Sergeant,Warrant officers, Master Warrant officers among others have been urged to assist the junior officers with orders that will assist them in overcoming insecurity challenges currently battling the country.
The non-commission officers were advised on Monday, at the 2 Div of Nigerian Army Headquarters, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment Ojoo Ibadan by the Director General of Nigerian Army Resources Center, Major General Garuba Wahab rtd, during the 2021 Leadership Awareness and Development Course 2 for Senior Non-Commission Officers of the Cantonment.
Gen. Garuba Wahab (rtd) also advsied the Senior non Commission officers of the Nigerian Army to imbibe the culture of leaders in order to urgently overcome the security challenges in Nigeria.
Every individuals in the Army is trained to be a leader because the least of the sub-unit is a section and a section is led by a soldier,soldiers are trained to be a leader.
In his words Gen. Wahab rtd said, “Overtime a lot of things have happened and we always want somebody ahead of us to tell us what to do, that is not how it supose to be.
“Nowadays, officers still wait to tell them what to do even when you have given them weapons,let us go back to the basis and imbibe leadership culture and do the nedful, in any crisis situation required an urgent decision that would stand the test of time to be taking in line with the constitution and legal provision without waiting for the senior officers.
“It is not everytime that a junior officers would be waiting for clarification from the senior officers once they have been given responsibilities, weapons and other things to perform.
“Leadership is an essential ingredient of training,particularly in the Army. General Wahab said.
Earlier in his address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Cantonment Maj. Gen. Gold Chibuisi, said that a good non-commission officers are not born but groomed.
Chibuisi stressed that training was a necessary tools to build the capacity and enhanced effective performance of personnel in the discharge of their duty.
He informed the participants that the training would reposition them on the important role they played in their units and formations in order to achieve the vission of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen.Faruk Yahaya.
The GOC said that the training is important not only for the participants but the entire Nigerian Army communities.
In his welcome address the Training Officer of the Cantonment, Brig.-Gen. Umar Muazu, also advised the participants to be very attentive and serious during the course, he also noted that they should not to miss the value of the opportunity to improved themselves professional.
