Health Officers attributes 13 million deaths annually in Nigeria to Poor Environment.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Environment health officers registration council of Nigeria has attributed one quarter of all death to diseases which is translated to 13 million death annually are due to environmental risk.

This was stated by the Registrar Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria, Sanitarian Yakubu Muhammed during the 6th Southwest Conference / Scientific Workshop, theme: Environmental Health Practice : A key to prevention and control of emerging and reemerging diseases, which was held at the western hall, state Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Sanitarian Muhammed explained that statistically by the world health organization that in the last ten years the rate at which infectious disease are re-emerging and emerging is alarming which needs to be curb.

He further said that it is imperative that all health officers are been sensitize and remember their roles to ensure that the emerging and re-emerging diseases are put to check.

Sanitarian Muhammed further charged all health workers to play their part to ensure that the emerging and reemerging diseases are put to check.

In his remark, chairman Oyo state civil service commission, Hon. Kamorudeen Aderibigbe urged all environmental health workers in the state to work diligently inorder to reciprocate the good gesture of the present administration.

He promised the state health officers that in the subsequent employment exercise to employ more qualified personnel.

In his address the president Environmental health officers association of Nigeria, Southwest zone, Sanitarian Tope Akinwunmi advised the state government to recruit more health officers personnel to prevent and control emerging and re-emerging diseases .
