Apprehension in Ibadan as Cholera Breaks

Fears have gripped residents of Ibadan , Oyo state following reported outbreak of Cholera in some parts of the state.

Cholera , a killer bacterial disease causing severe diarrhoea and dehydration is reported to have broken out at Araromi-Idowu, Bakatari, Omi Adio and Apete in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state.

A visit to some of the hospitals at Omi Adio , Bakatari, and Apete revealed cases of cholera been treated in private health facilities.

At Araromi-Idowu , where there was no functional healthcare facility in a town of about 1000 population , there were cases of cholera outbreak with unconfirmed casualties .

It was gathered that patients who were infected with the killer disease were either administered with local herbs or rushed to private health facilities at Bakatari and Omi Adio for medical attention.

The Permanent Secretary , Oyo state Ministry of Health, Dr. Muftau Ayoola , said a lot is being done by the government to check the outbreak of cholera in the state.
